    Yes, everything Levis for me is broken-hearted. My poetry professor and poetry mentor really, through college, was a student of Levis (who had died by the time we read his work). The semester after graduation my professor, who had been suffering from surgeries gone bad, chronic pain, and alcoholism, committed suicide. I read Levis’s Elegy now with new eyes. It has become more haunting.Report
